Variscite (Lucinite) Elastic Bracelet - 6mm

$29.99
Inner Peace Understanding Love Emotional Growth

Come back to yourself with our Variscite Elastic Bracelet, a soft mint green stone that is far rarer than its gentle appearance suggests. Also known as Lucinite, Variscite ranges from pale seafoam to deeper spring green, often webbed with fine darker veining that makes each bead its own small map. Our Variscite comes from Utah, the source of the finest material in the world and the reason serious collectors seek out American stone specifically. Variscite is carried for inner peace, understanding, love, and emotional growth, and it has a reputation as one of the most calming stones in the mineral world. Resonating with the Heart Chakra under the Water element, it encourages honest self-reflection without self-criticism, helping you meet your own feelings with the same patience you would offer a friend. If you are working through something tender, tending a relationship, or simply want more quiet in your days, this 6mm bracelet is a beautiful place to rest.

PLEASE NOTE: To prolong the life of your bracelet, we recommend that you do not swim, shower, or bathe with your bracelet on. Exposure to water can weaken the band and knots. We also recommend taking your bracelet off before going to sleep and not stretching or playing with your bracelet to limit the chances of it getting caught on something and snapping the band.

Geology & Composition: Variscite is a hydrated aluminum phosphate, and it forms in a way almost opposite to how most gemstones do. Rather than crystallizing from heat and pressure deep in the earth, it grows near the surface at low temperatures, when phosphate-rich groundwater seeps through aluminum-rich rock and slowly deposits mineral into cracks and cavities over long stretches of time. Its green comes from trace chromium and vanadium, ranging from pale seafoam through apple green to a deeper spring color, and the darker webbing you see running through the beads is the surrounding host rock caught in the growth. Our Variscite comes from Utah, which is why you will sometimes see it sold under the name Utahlite. The deposits in the Fairfield and Lucin areas have produced the world's most sought-after material for well over a century, and Lucinite is simply the trade name for the variscite from Lucin. Utah stone is prized for its unusually rich, even color and its fine spiderweb matrix. At 3.5 to 4.5 on the Mohs scale, Variscite is noticeably softer than quartz and takes a gentle waxy polish rather than a glassy one. It is also genuinely scarce. Good material is far less common than turquoise, which is what it is most often confused with, though variscite is greener and lacks turquoise's blue cast.

A NOTE ON THIS PARTICULAR STONE: Variscite is softer than many of the stones we work with, sitting between 3.5 and 4.5 on the Mohs scale, and it is somewhat porous. Please keep it away from water, lotions, perfumes, and household cleaners, all of which can dull the polish or affect the color over time. Store it apart from harder jewelry that could scratch it, and cleanse it energetically with smoke, sound, or moonlight rather than water. Treated gently, it will keep its soft luster for many years.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES:

  • Intentions: Inner Peace, Understanding, Love, Emotional Growth
  • Chakra: Heart
  • Zodiac: Scorpio, Taurus, Gemini
  • Elements: Water

Metaphysical Properties of Variscite: Variscite is a stone of quiet. Where many green stones are associated with abundance or growth in an outward sense, Variscite turns inward, and it is carried by people who are trying to understand what they feel rather than push past it. It is one of the gentlest Heart Chakra stones, and its energy is often described as a steadying hand rather than a lift.

Its greatest gift is self-understanding without self-judgment. Variscite is said to encourage honest reflection on your own patterns, choices, and emotional history while keeping that reflection kind, which is exactly the combination that makes real emotional growth possible. It is associated with dissolving the sharpness we so often reserve for ourselves, and with the hard-won clarity that comes from finally sitting with something instead of avoiding it.

Under the Water element, Variscite is closely tied to the flow of emotion, encouraging feelings to move through you rather than pool and stagnate. It has a long reputation as a stone of love and compassion, extended outward to others as readily as inward to yourself, and it is often reached for during recovery from difficult seasons, in the tender work of repairing a relationship, or simply at the enad of a long day when you need your own company to feel gentle. Many people keep Variscite near where they sleep or meditate for exactly this reason.

About the Heart Chakra: The Heart Chakra, also known as the Anahata, is the energy center at the middle of the chest, and it governs love, compassion, and connection, both to other people and to yourself. When the Heart Chakra falls out of balance, you may find yourself guarded, quick to criticize your own feelings, or holding onto hurts long after they have stopped teaching you anything. The soft, steady frequency of Variscite works here without forcing anything open. It is said to ease the pressure around old grief and disappointment so you can look at it clearly, forgive yourself for how you handled it, and make room for warmth to move freely again in both directions.

How to Wear It: Variscite is traditionally worn on the left wrist (non-dominant hand). In crystal practice, the left wrist is your receiving side, drawing energy inward, while the right wrist (dominant hand) projects energy outward. Nearly all of Variscite's work is inward work, the quiet business of understanding your own feelings and softening toward yourself, so the left wrist is its natural home. The left side is also the side closest to the heart, which suits a stone so strongly tied to the Heart Chakra. It is a perfect choice for meditation, journaling, rest, and any evening when you are trying to let the day settle.

Move it to your right wrist (dominant hand) when you want to carry that calm outward. If you are walking into a conversation where you want to stay open rather than defensive, offering patience to someone who needs it, or simply want to move through a demanding day without hardening, the right wrist sends that gentleness out with you.

One practical tip, whichever side you choose. Your non-dominant wrist takes less daily wear, so less flexing, catching, and pulling, which helps the elastic band and knots last much longer. If the wrist your intention calls for happens to be your dominant one, that is perfectly fine, just be a little more mindful with it. Since Variscite is a softer stone, this one benefits from the gentler wrist more than most.
