Yooperlite Elastic Bracelet (UV Reactive) - 6mm & 8mm Beads

$16.99 - $18.99
Transformation Intuition Protection Calming

Carry a hidden fire with our Yooperlite Elastic Bracelet, one of the most remarkable stones ever found. In daylight these beads look like ordinary Lake Superior stone, soft gray and salmon speckled with black. Switch on a UV light and they erupt in molten orange, veins and flecks of fire blazing across every bead as if something inside had been waiting to be seen. Yooperlite was discovered in 2017 along the shores of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, making it one of the newest stones in the crystal world. It is carried for transformation, intuition, protection, and calm, and it is known as the Stone of Truth for its connection to the Throat Chakra. Working through the Third Eye as well, it helps you recognize what is true before you speak it, and its pairing of Water and Fire lends a settled heart alongside real confidence. If you have ever felt like the best of you goes unnoticed, this bracelet is a beautiful thing to wear. Available in 6mm and 8mm.

PLEASE NOTE: To prolong the life of your bracelet, we recommend that you do not swim, shower, or bathe with your bracelet on. Exposure to water can weaken the band and knots. We also recommend taking your bracelet off before going to sleep and not stretching or playing with your bracelet to limit the chances of it getting caught on something and snapping the band.

Geology & Composition: Yooperlite is the trade name for a syenite rock containing fluorescent sodalite, and both halves of that description matter. Syenite is a coarse-grained igneous rock, cousin to granite but low in quartz, dominated instead by feldspars, which is where the gray and salmon-pink coloring in these beads comes from. Threaded through it are veins and patches of sodalite, and this particular sodalite is what makes the stone extraordinary. Under longwave 365nm ultraviolet light, trace sulfur within the sodalite absorbs the invisible UV and re-emits it as visible light, producing the intense orange and amber glow you see in our photos. The effect is called fluorescence, and it stops the instant the UV light goes off. The geology here is ancient, dating back over a billion years to the Midcontinent Rift, when enormous volumes of magma pushed up through what is now the Great Lakes region. Glaciers later scattered that rock across the landscape, and Lake Superior has been tumbling the pieces smooth ever since. The stone was hiding in plain sight until 2017, when Erik Rintamaki walked Michigan beaches at night with a UV light and found them glowing at his feet. He named them for Yoopers, the residents of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. At 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale, Yooperlite is durable enough for comfortable everyday wear.

HOW TO SEE THE GLOW: Yooperlite only fluoresces under longwave ultraviolet light, specifically 365nm UV, which is what most rockhounding and mineral flashlights use. A standard household blacklight or a phone flashlight will not do it. For the best effect, use your UV light in a completely dark room and give your eyes a moment to adjust. Please also note that the glow varies naturally from bead to bead. Some beads light up almost entirely while others show only veins, flecks, or a few bright patches, because the fluorescent sodalite is distributed unevenly through the stone. That variation is the mark of a genuine, untreated natural stone.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES:

  • Intentions: Transformation, Intuition, Protection, Calming
  • Chakra: Throat, Third Eye
  • Zodiac: Sagittarius
  • Elements: Water, Fire

Metaphysical Properties of Yooperlite: Yooperlite is the trade name for syenite stones that contain fluorescent sodalite. This crystal was only found in 2017, when Erik Rintamaki discovered that these unassuming stones glow when a UV light is shone on them. It glows with more than light, though. This stone carries a powerful serene energy, and it is said to fill you with confidence and personal strength, allowing you to face your troubles with a brave face and a calm heart. Yooperlite resonates with the Throat Chakra, which is why it is also called the Stone of Truth or the Stone of Expression. It gives you the personal power to clearly articulate yourself, your thoughts, and your dreams, and it is carried by people who tend to know exactly what they mean but struggle to say it out loud.

Like most Throat Chakra stones, Yooperlite resonates with the calming element of Water, but it also carries the element of Fire, which is where its energy of confidence comes from. It reaches the Third Eye as well, and that is where its association with intuition lives. Before you can speak your truth, you have to recognize it, and Yooperlite is said to support both halves of that, the seeing and the saying. Together with its Water and Fire pairing, this is exactly what makes the stone so well suited to transformation, since real change asks for the clarity to know what needs to change, the steadiness to sit with it, and the spark to act. There is something fitting about all of this in a stone that spent a billion years looking ordinary before anyone noticed what it was holding. Some believe Yooperlite can be especially beneficial to those born under the sign of Sagittarius.

About the Throat Chakra: The Throat Chakra, also known as the Vishuddha, is located at the base of the throat. It is the chakra most associated with communication and truth. When the Throat Chakra is balanced, you are able to connect to your inner truth and gain wisdom, and it promotes positive and meaningful communication and conversation. If your Throat Chakra is unbalanced or blocked, you might find yourself holding back, softening what you mean, or leaving conversations wishing you had said the real thing. Aligning your Throat Chakra helps connect you to your own thoughts and feelings, and to the people around you.

About the Third Eye Chakra: The Third Eye Chakra, also known as the Ajna or Brow Chakra, is located on the forehead between the eyebrows. It governs wisdom, perception, and inner sight, taking the ability of sight past just what our eyes are able to do. When the Third Eye is clouded, you may second-guess your instincts or struggle to name what you already sense to be true. Yooperlite works here alongside the Throat, and the two together are the heart of why it is called the Stone of Truth. The Third Eye lets you see clearly, and the Throat gives you the words. There is a certain rightness to that in a stone whose real nature stays invisible until the right light reveals it.

How to Wear It: Yooperlite is a stone you can wear on either wrist, and the choice depends on which side of it you need. In crystal practice, the left wrist (non-dominant hand) is your receiving side, drawing energy inward, while the right wrist (dominant hand) projects energy outward.

Wear it on your left wrist (non-dominant hand) for its calming, protective side. Yooperlite is said to fill you with a serene, steady energy that lets you face difficulty with a calm heart, and the left wrist suits that inward settling, along with the intuition and quiet transformation this stone is known for. Move it to your right wrist (dominant hand) when you need your voice. As a Throat Chakra stone, Yooperlite is carried for the power to articulate yourself, your thoughts, and your dreams clearly, and the right wrist sends that confidence outward into presentations, difficult conversations, creative work, and any moment when you need to be understood.

One practical tip, whichever side you choose. Your non-dominant wrist takes less daily wear, so less flexing, catching, and pulling, which helps the elastic band and knots last much longer. If the wrist your intention calls for happens to be your dominant one, that is perfectly fine, just be a little more mindful with it.
