BOTANICAL ORIGINS & SOURCING:

Despite its name, the Rose of Jericho is not a rose at all, nor a true moss. It is a spikemoss, a member of one of the oldest plant lineages on earth, one that was already ancient long before the first flowering plants appeared. It grows wild in the Chihuahuan Desert of the southwestern United States and Mexico, where rain may not fall for months at a time.

Its survival strategy is what makes it so extraordinary. During drought, the plant can lose nearly all of its water without dying. It curls its branches inward into a tight ball, protecting its inner tissue from the sun, and simply waits, sometimes for years. When water finally returns, it opens back up within hours and resumes growing as though no time has passed. What you are holding is not a dried decoration but a dormant living plant, and the transformation you see when you awaken it is the same one it performs in the desert.

2. Add water: Place the plant in a shallow bowl or dish with enough water to reach its base. Some people add a coin to the water as an offering for abundance.
3. Watch it open: Over the next several hours, the branches will gradually uncurl. It will continue to open and grow greener over the next day or two.
4. Refresh the water: Change the water every day or two while your plant is awake.
