Geology: Lemurian Seed Quartz is a specialized variety of Clear Quartz found in the world-renowned Diamantina region of Minas Gerais, Brazil. This area is geologically famous for its high-purity quartz deposits found within ancient sedimentary layers. To understand the formation of a "True Seed" crystal, one must look back millions of years to a unique hydrothermal event where these crystals formed as individual, "loose" points buried in pockets of soft, mineral-rich Kaolinite clay. This rare "unattached" growth is why they are called "Seeds"; they were found scattered in the earth as if they had been planted there.

The defining characteristic of this stone is its oscillatory growth pattern. As the crystal formed within the clay, the surrounding hydrothermal fluids underwent rhythmic shifts in temperature and silica saturation. This caused the crystal to experience a "tug-of-war" between its different faces. For a moment, it would grow its smooth prism faces (the long sides), and then a sudden shift would cause it to try and grow its rhombohedral faces (the slanted faces that usually form the tip).
