  • To check if our elastic bracelets will fit you, please measure your wrist with either (1) a string and a ruler OR (2) a measuring tape. Make sure that the string or measuring tape is not too loose or too tight on your wrist. Be sure to measure the area of your wrist where you wish the bracelet to lay. If the measurement is between 6" to 7.5", the elastic bracelet will fit well!

Geology & Composition: Larimar is an incredibly rare blue variety of the mineral Pectolite, and what makes it extraordinary is its origin. It is found in only one square kilometer in the world, in the remote mountains of Barahona Province in the Dominican Republic. It formed millions of years ago when volcanic gases pushed mineral-saturated fluids into cavities within basaltic lava, where they slowly crystallized into radiating fibrous masses. While common Pectolite is found in many places and is typically gray or white, Larimar's signature Caribbean blue comes from copper substituting for calcium within the mineral's chemical structure. The white fibrous patterning woven through the blue is a direct record of that crystallization process deep within ancient volcanic vents, and it is what gives the stone its famous resemblance to sunlight reflecting off shallow water. Larimar was known locally for generations before it reached the wider world, and it took its modern name in 1974 when Miguel Méndez combined his daughter Larissa's name with mar, the Spanish word for sea. At 4.5 to 5 on the Mohs scale it is on the softer side, which is why it is always cut as beads and cabochons rather than faceted, and why it takes the smooth satiny polish you see here. Because the single deposit is finite and increasingly difficult to mine, good Larimar grows scarcer every year.

PLEASE NOTE: To prolong the life of your bracelet, we recommend that you do not swim, shower, or bathe with your bracelet on. Exposure to water can weaken the band and knots. We also recommend taking your bracelet off before going to sleep and not stretching or playing with your bracelet to limit the chances of it getting caught on something and snapping the band.
