PLEASE NOTE: To prolong the life of your bracelet, we recommend that you do not swim, shower, or bathe with your bracelet on. Exposure to water can weaken the band and knots. The pattern is a record of the crystal's own history, since the hematite arrived in stages as iron-rich fluids moved through the quartz during its formation. Our Fire Quartz comes from Madagascar, the island that produces most of the world's finest hematoid material and is known for pieces where the red inclusions are especially vivid against clear, well-formed quartz. The quartz itself is silicon dioxide with a Mohs hardness of 7, which makes this a durable, everyday-friendly stone that holds a bright polish beautifully. You will also see it sold as Hematoid Quartz, which is the more technical name.
