PLEASE NOTE: To prolong the life of your bracelet, we recommend that you do not swim, shower, or bathe with your bracelet on. Exposure to water can weaken the band and knots. We also recommend taking your bracelet off before going to sleep and not stretching or playing with your bracelet to limit the chances of it getting caught on something and snapping the band.

Geology & Composition: Dendritic Agate is a variety of chalcedony, which is quartz made of crystals far too small to see individually, and its beauty comes from something that happened after the stone itself had already formed. As the agate developed in gas pockets within volcanic rock, mineral-rich water seeped into microscopic fractures, and iron and manganese oxides crystallized out along those channels in branching, tree-like shapes called dendrites. They look so convincingly like plants that they were long mistaken for fossilized ferns, but nothing organic is involved. Dendrites form through a mathematical growth pattern called diffusion-limited aggregation, the same process that produces frost on a window and the branching of a lightning strike. This is why the patterns feel so alive while being pure mineral chemistry. Our Dendritic Agate comes from Brazil, where the vast volcanic deposits of Rio Grande do Sul have produced the world's finest agate for centuries, known for exceptionally clear translucent bodies that let the dendrites read sharply against them. The colorless-to-milky base with black or rust-brown dendrites is the classic Brazilian look. As a quartz variety, it measures 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, making it durable for everyday wear and able to hold a bright glassy polish.
